On the 21st of December 2011, Samsung Levant held Samsung's first Smartphone Developers' Day in Jordan and the Levant region at the Sheraton Hotel Amman. This event hosted Software Developers, IT entrepreneurs and University students from Jordan and neighbouring countries as all of them were truly excited at the prospect of Samsung making such an event especially in the field of smartphone apps development.
The morning session began with a welcome speech from Hadi Jadallah, Samsung Levant's Research & Development Center. He spoke of Samsung's current position in the smartphone industry and how Samsung has become the largest smartphone manufacturer in the world and discussed Samsung's strategy with regard to bada 2.0 platform.

Later, it was followed by an introduction to the smartphone's ecosystem and Samsung Apps, and how publishing applications on Samsung Apps can be of a great benefit to local businesses and application developers.
Kamil Grondys, a Senior Software Engineer from Samsung Poland Research & Development Center (SPRC), introduced the audience to bada 2.0 platform and highlighted the latest changes in terms of User Experience and the new API that allows for unprecedented capabilities and unlimited possibilities.


The audience were shown code samples written in C++ that demonstrates the simplicity of app development on bada 2.0, they were also shown a sample written in the Web API which was met with great enthusiasm especially by developers with web development background.
During the breaks, the audience got the chance to experience the three new Wave bada 2.0 based smartphone's - Wave 3, Wave Y & Wave M. The general feedback was very positive and they loved bada 2.0 even more especially when they got their hands on it and they demonstrated great interest in developing applications for the bada platform.

Part of Samsung Electronics support for the development community, Wave M devices giveaway was announced to allow everyone to get a first-hand experience on these devices marking the event as an unforgettable day for the audience.
This was indeed a great opportunity for our team to engage with the local development community. We were really happy by the enthusiasm shown throughout the day. The positive feedback we received and the eagerness shown by the developers to learn more about bada along with the enthusiasm shown throughout the day made us really excited and looking forward to next year's events.
